Langpreneur Podcast – Episode #59
Sales Funnels are all the rage in the marketing world but do YOU really need to have one? The short answer is probably not.
- No — if you don’t make a six-figure income.
- No — if your language business is a side hustle.
- And — definitely not if you’re at the start of your Langpreneur journey.
But what is a sales funnel, and when is the time to purchase expensive software and go all-in on this marketing technique?
Let’s find out…
Definition
A Sales Funnel is a marketing structure that takes people through a multi-step process. Ultimately these steps lead your customers to buy your premium product. Here’s an example of how a funnel can work:
STEP 1: Sell the customer a small, cheap product.
STEP 2: Come back later with a more valuable offer.
STEP 3: Invite them to purchase your premium services.
“It’s based on a very solid marketing concept which is that the money is in the follow-up.”
What skills do you need to run a good sales funnel?
You need to have great sales and marketing skills to run a successful sales funnel. It’s no use just copying someone else’s — that’s generally a waste of time because it pertains to their audience, not yours.
“Sales funnels are a way for marketers to get you interested and sell you expensive software, but it only works if you’ve got the skillset to pull it off.”
Skills include:
- Create enticing copy on a landing page to get the email addresses in the first place.
- Write compelling emails that will keep people interested and wanting to buy.
- Have a well-positioned offer which resonates with your customers.
- Build a convincing sales page to sell the product or service.
- Up-sell to an even more useful and valuable package.
“The thing about a sales funnel is, it only works if every single part of the process is spot on.”
Concentrate on the basics first
Until you’re making at least six-figures, you shouldn’t even think about having sales funnel software.
Instead, get these basics right first:
- Understand your niche.
- Know your avatar and what they want.
- Capture an email address.
- Send entertaining emails to educate, help your audience get to know and trust you better.
- Create awareness and desire for your offer.
- Sell your products.
“One of the biggest mistakes that everybody makes is that they just don’t make enough offers.”
